Hide "Comments" Section on main page

Hi!
I am a newbie in using WordPress with GP Premium and I just designed my first web site the last few days. Everything worked fine but now I have a problem which I could not solve:
Is there any chance to hide the "Comments" section on the main apse of my site? I am using a static page as a home page and dont want to have any Blog functionality on the home page.
