Hero Image for Post

I am interested in adding a full-width hero image to a custom post type. I have been creating a template for the single custom post type using an element. But it seems that in a Content Template Block Element, there is no option to go full-width like there is when I edit a page. Is that correct? If so, does this mean I would need to add an additional element in order to display a full-width hero image at the top of the posts? Or is there a way to do a full width image at the top of the content template?

Hi Brent,

To have a better understanding of what you’re trying to do, can you kindly provide the link to the site in question? Specifically, a custom post type page and a single post type page as well for reference.

The Content Template modifies the look of the site Content. The full width of the Content can be altered through Appearance > Customize > Layout > Container > Container Width or you may also utilize a Layout Element, in which case, you’ll be able to alter the width solely for a specific page through the Display rules.

Are you referring to adding a full image page hero? If so, using a Page Hero - Block Element instead of a Content Template - Block Element is what you’re looking for.

If you’re referring to something else, Kindly let us know. :)

Okay, so it sounds like if I want a full-width page hero at the top of a single post, and a regular content templated below it, I should use two elements to achieve this: a page hero element, and a content template element.

Yes, that would be best. Kindly let us know if you’ll need any further assistance regarding this. :)

Thanks!

You’re welcome Brent! :)
