Two small suggestions
1) When there is no Footer Widget here, it ishows up LIVE online...it should not show LIVE if there is not widget...(only way to not to show it is to set footer 0 in the customize setting) - Image 1
2) A short description about how to activate widget can be written to help remind users - Image 2

Thanks for the suggestion!
It's a tough one because I could:
a) Have widgets turned off by default (0) - but then most people won't know that they're there.
b) Have them turned on, but if no widgets exist in those areas they don't show - but then I'm running into the same problem as above.
Definitely worth putting some more thought into.
