Headline over featured image

Hello,
I love Generate press and how easy is to customize almost everything. But for one of my site I want to show headlines over featured image. For masonry and single post too. I have done this on one of my previous websites following this tutorial:

But am not really sure how to do this with your theme and lot's f custom options. Am afraid that I will mess up other customization you offer from admin panel. How to do this correct way?

This would be pretty complicated code-wise - a bit too much to post here right now.

I'll try to find the time to code something up that could help both of you :)
