Header max width

I'm trying to put a wide banner ad from the AdRotate plugin in a widget above my header but does not display across the whole page. AdRotate says the header widget area is set to only 50% wide. Does that make sense? Can I change it?

If you want it above the header and full width then try creating a hook element for it:
