Header bloat
7 replies · Started by Simon on April 16, 2021
hi,
I used to run ads on some parts of my site, so think that might be the issue. Some pages have a big gap in the header causing the page to jump around and cause web core vitals errors inside GSC.
Could someone take a look and see ?
Many thanks!
Hi Simon,
Looks like it's the ad for sure.
Have you tried disabling the ads to test?
Hi Leo!
Thanks for your reply.
Sorry, I should have said: I turned ads off, although the "bloat" was consistent with pages that did / did not have ads running. So the ads have gone, alas the bloat is still there!
I installed Query monitor and it pretty much confirms it - at least i think?! Please see attachment.
I guess I will need to install something like:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-asset-clean-up/
to get rid of it?
Code running with ads, i think:

Thanks

Not exactly sure if I understand but this is the code I'm seeing that's triggering the space:

So you are saying that the ads have been turned off? Then I'm guessing it could be a caching issue.
Try removing the ads and disabling all plugins to test.
Hi Leo,
Thanks.
Yes, the ads have been disabled. I will try disabling plug-ins one by one.
Just to be clear, this is what I am seeing:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j7-TwKO6VrZkQyGcWfELGNK3hG8fNXHk/view?usp=sharing
and with no bloat:

Thanks
Simon
Instead of disabling them one by one, try disable all of them at once and see if that resolves the issue.
If it does then reactivate the plugin one by one.
hi @Leo!
Sorry for the delay, thanks for all your help. It turned out when the ads were switched off at Ezoic, the Adsense adverts came live!
All sorted now.
Thanks again!
No problem :)
