Header and page background color won't change!

Hi,
I've been running several websites on generatepress but I've never encountered a problem like this. I've been trying to change the background color to white for all single pages but for some reason nothing is working. In customizer, the background color should be all solid white for everything (background, header, etc.) and I also tried css but nothing worked. I didn't do anything different when I was building this site from what I did with my previous websites.
Please advice.
