Hard crop product images square

Good morning team,
Is it possible to have an option added to hard crop main product images square? I know this used to be a feature in woocommerce in versions prior to 3.3 (I think) but it was removed.
This would then allow for a consistent layout throughout the store when using photos of different sizes and aspect ratios. Would also make store easier to navigate on mobile devices.
Having the zoom feature zoom into the original uncropped version would be nice, to allow users to view cropped areas on mouse hover.
Would be a good addition to the new woocommerce focussed version.

Currently only the main image width is able to be set in the customiser.
I'd like to hard-crop the main image square (not the thumbnails).
I believe this would be a good feature/option to have in generate press as it would maintain consistency throughout product pages. It would also look a hell of a lot better on mobile devices.
Woocommerce did in fact use to have height and width adjustments for main product images in the past but removed this functionality.
Would appreciate if you could pass my comments onto the development team for review and potentially provide a work-around in the meantime.

By main image, do you mean the single product image?
If so, we don't have cropping options for that, but we do have an option to resize the image area in 1.8, which is available for testing: https://generatepress.com/gp-premium-1-8/
