Gutenberg Image Block Default Caption

Bizarre! This started just today and I don’t know if it’s something I caused.

Normally, when I inserted an image block I got a “Add caption” indicator to place a caption and would paste my caption in that place.

Now that caption indicator is gone, replaced by about 30 space characters. If I remove the spaces the “Add caption” indicator reappears. Slows down inserting the 500 or so images I have to put on my pages!

Seems like the 30 spaces became some kind of default caption and I can’t figure out how to remove it and can’t find anything online.

Note that I have not added any custom CSS, etc.

The latest post I've edited is

I don't know that it would show you anything because I edited out the 30 spaces before pasting in the captions you see.

I'm moving this site from old, hand-coded HTML and having to insert the 1,250 images manually. Only 500 or so to go and this issue pops up.

Can you disable all plugins except GP premium to test?

Are you using a child theme? If so, try switch back to the parent theme.

Let me know!

Disabled all but GP. No child theme. Same behavior.

Bizarre!

Tried on MS Edge and was able to insert image normally.

Back to Chrome and that worked correctly as well.

So the problem seems to have disappeared! Don't know what to say ... new day? ... rainy weather?

Appears the ticket can be closed. Thanks for your help.

I see. Glad it's working now!

This might have been a device related issue.

You’re welcome William!
