GP Premium update breaks site.

Hi I have a parent and child posts on my site. I recently updated from version 1.12.3 to 2.0.2 and when I visited the site after updating I'd lost all child post connections - ie the child posts didn't appear with their parent post. Restored backup and all was OK.
Any ideas?

Hi David,
I don't see how this could be related to the free GeneratePress theme and GP Premium plugin.
Posts and pages structure are all completely handled by WordPress and should be unrelated to the theme.
Did you have any custom functions or caching plugin or anything else?
Hi, Yes have caching plugin and custom code I added to functions.php (which I restored to functions.php after updating)
Are you referring to the child theme's function.php?
You should never modify the theme or premium plugin's core files at anytime.
You're right, need to setup a child theme - any tuts for adding a child theme?
