Dear Support,

We have just noticed that the GP Mega Menu is no longer working on our site:
https://www.pairfum.com

We use the following Mega Menu for desktops:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/building-simple-mega-menu/

For mobile & tablet we use an off-canvas menu and this is still working fine.

There are no errors in Chrome's Console that would give us a hint as to why it is no longer working.

The Mega Menu is still working on our staging site:
https://staging.pairfum.com

The following plugins, have not been updated on the staging site but were updated on the live site:
- WooCommerce update from version 5.6.0 to 5.7.0.
- FooGallery update from version 2.0.39 to 2.1.18.
- Fetchify update from version 1.3.0 to 1.3.1.

We de-activated FooGallery and Fetchify but this did not solve it.

We used WP Roll back to go back to WooCommerce 5.6.0 but sadly this didn't fix it either.

Can you please figure out what is going wrong?

Many thanks for your help with this.

Kind regards,

Pairfum London

Dear Support,

Following up on this ticket, we have since restored the site to the previous day's version and also rolled back WooCommerce to version 5.6.0 and the GP Mega Menu is working again.

Subsequently, we have updated FooGallery & Fetchify and the Mega Menu is still working.

In other words, it would appear that the update to WooCommerce 5.7. is breaking the GP Mega Menu function.

Kind regards,

Pairfum London

Hi there,

thats peculiar, i can't think of what Woo 5.7 would do to interfere with the mega menu as its only CSS.
Could create a staging site with woo 5.7 so i can take a look at the problem?

Hi David,

Many thanks for coming back and for your kind offer. We very much appreciate it.

We have just figured out what has happened:
- When updating to WC 5.7, WooCommerce seems to de-activate the main menu and the mobile menus that have been defined in WP-Admin > Appearance > Menu, i.e. the GP Mega Menu (desktop) and the Off-Canvas menu (mobile & tablet) were 'unticked' by WC. In other words, no menu was configured at all.
- In addition, WC requests an initial 'store set-up' procedure, even though we have an existing store. During this process, a few anomalies are configured, e.g. it changes the site logo within GP.

We have since reversed / corrected these anomalies and all is working again.

The only thing that is still odd is that favicon for the site has not yet come back. We don't set the favicon within GP / Customizer but uploaded it to the root folder of the site. Clearing caches (website/litespeed cache plugin, cloudflare, browser) did not yet fix the favicon. Would you know what could be the reason? I suspect it is another WC anomalie that needs to be reversed. We already checked with Customizer > Site Identity and there is no favicon set there.

Kind regards,

Pairfum London

Wow thats super odd that a woo update would have 'removed' the navigation menu locations. We'll do some tests to see whats going on there - thanks for the headsup.

Is the live site now using the latests version of woo ? As i can see the favicon in the browser tab and on mobile searches

Dear David,

Yes, we have updated to WC 5.7 on our live site.

Our staging site is still on WC 5.6 and you are more then welcome to update it yourself to WC 5.7 to see what happens, if you find this helpful. Just let us know and we could send you login details in a private ticket.

Yes, the favicon must have been a caching issue because I see it now as well.

Many thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Pairfum London

Thanks for the kind offer - if we get stuck we will come back to you :)
