GP Hooks not working
16 replies · Started by Chris on November 22, 2015
I'm trying to place my site tagline below the logo. I have GP Premium, trying to use GP Hooks.
I disabled site tagline in Customizer, and then added the following to GP Hook "After Header Content":
<p class="site-description">My site tagline</p>
I save everything, but the tagline never shows. Did a search on view source, and the content is not being written into the HTML. Using latest GeneratePress.
Hi there,
When you save the hook and refresh the page, is it still there in the textarea?
Yes, it is still there on refresh, in the GP Hook text area.
Any chance you can link me to your site?
That is very odd - never experienced this issue before.
Is it possible to receive temporary admin login details to support@generatepress.com so I can personally take a look?
Let me know :)
Unfortunately, no. I can email contents of some files if that will help.
Hmm, what happens if you place the content into a different hook? After Header for example?
What about if you add some text with no HTML like: TESTING
It just worked itself out. Very strange. All my test code just popped at the same time.
Perhaps a super cache issue.
Confirmed, WP Super Cache is messing with the header and GP hooks settings, and causing a delay in their refresh. When I turned off WP Super Cache, all returns to normal.
Aha - when in doubt check the cache.
It's best to keep cache disabled until development is done or clear the cache after each change.
Glad you got it sorted :)
Tom: I am having this problem currently. I will try to put hook code under different heading and see if it persists. I will also deactivate cache when working on tagline and pursue that end.
If not.... can I give you admin details?
Thanks
Howard
Absolutely - you can send them here: https://generatepress.com/contact/
Just be sure to mention this topic :)
Re: Hook code to change TAG FOR SITE to go under LOGO not staying
Hi Tom:
Still evaluating a few plugins that might be causing problem before I have you come to the rescue!
One question:
I have deactivated a plugin from my previous Theme (my themeshop) . It is as below:
WP Editor
Activate | Delete
This plugin modifies the default behavior of the WordPress plugin and theme editors.
Version 1.2.6.3 | By Benjamin Rojas | View details
Should this be kept or deleted or either or?
Also: trying out deactivating (also left over from My Themeshop)
WP Tab Widget
Activate | Delete
WP Tab Widget is the AJAXified plugin which loads content by demand, and thus it makes the plugin incredibly lightweight.
Happy Thanksgiving

Hi there,
It's hard for me to tell which plugins are or aren't necessary, as I'm not sure what each one does.
If you don't think you're using it, then you can probably deactivate it :)
