    Hi,

yes I am running the test within Google Search Console. If I am using the tool https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly without login in into Google Search Console, everything is fine (all my pages pass the mobile friendly test).

If I´m using the test within search console (logged in), the test failed.

    Not sure what to do?

    Best regards

    Stefan

It’s very difficult for us to provide a solution without seeing the issue directly, unfortunately. What if you run the test using Lighthouse?: https://developers.google.com/web/tools/lighthouse/

    Hi Tom,

I will give it a try and thanks for the tip. Did not know the tool.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I have changed here and there some settings. I have also deactivated the data protection plugin (DSGVO-Tool) and installed Cookie-Notice instead.

All tests went ok so far.

I did realize a problem on one of my old iPhone 4 (Potrait, Safari Browser). The main navigation is not fully visible (Search-Symbol and Menu-Selection is outside the screen).
    Screenshot iphone4:

On an iPhone 6 using Chrome there is a line poping up during scrolling. I have done also a screenshot:

Not sure if this is relatad to the mobile friendly issue but I would like to be on the save side. Maybe this is just minor problems.

Thanks again for investing your time.

    Hi there,

Usually, that’s caused by something in your content forcing the screen to be too wide. Does it happen on a fresh page with no content?

    Hi Tom,

with regards to the issue about the navigation moving out of the screen on iPhone 4:
    – I have created an empty page. Still the same symptom.

Hmm, I don’t have an iPhone 4, so I’m trying to replicate it elsewhere. Does it only happen in Safari, or does it happen in Chrome as well?

    Hi,

    I have only Safari installed.

    Hi Tom,

    thanks for taking care.

Just to add to my previous message. I am assuming the problem is not the iPhone itself. It´s more the screen size.
    If I am correct:
    89 mm (3,5″),
    3:2-Format,
    960 × 640 Pixel (326 ppi),
    Maybe this helps.

If you do not heard issues from other users, please treat the issue with low priority (if at all).

    Best regards

    Stefan

Can you try installing Chrome as well? I’d like to know if it’s Safari-related or not.

    Let me know 🙂

    Hi Tom,

unfortunatelly it is not possible to install Chrome as it requires IOS 11x or higher.
iPhone 4 stopped providing updates until IOS 7.x.

So, let´s not follwo that route anymore.

I have requested a recrawling and I will report if anything get´s better with regards to mobile friendly test.

    I´ll keep you posted.

    Hello Tom, David and Community,

today I can report success. All pages have passed the mobile test and everything seems to be all right agian.

    Here are my findings:

The good news and I believe for you and all of us: the issue had nothing to do with the Generate Press template itself.

I had a certain plugin under suspicon (a GDPR Plugin – https://wp-dsgvo.eu/). It is actually a very powerfull plugin but from the code perspective very rich.
I disabled the plugin and replaced it with a new Cockie Policy plugin from dfactory: https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/cookie-notice/

After a while all sites have been re-crawled and everything works fine again.

Thanks again for investing your time and I am hopping other users can benefit a little bit from my findings.

    Greeting from Munich

    Stefan
