Hi,

Google has started indexing URLs with the following parameters utm_campaign URL recently for my sites

Any clues why that has started happening.

Please suggest how to fix it.

Hi David,

I feel the URLs are getting indexed because Google is crawling them from the source code of the page.

view-source:https://wearholic.com/best-cheap-solar-watches-under-100/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-cheap-solar-watches-under-100

Just search for "utm_source" on this page and you will see the exact URL which is getting indexed.

""

How to disable this URL from getting on the source code of all the pages/posts?

Thanks!

The UTM source is not added by the Theme - that comes from the campaign builder, not sure what method you used to add them, but that code is inserted due to the ?utm_campaign query on that URL.

The article i linked to above shows how to you tell Google to stop indexing them.

Hi David,

I do understand the point. But I didn't add it intentionally. I am not sure what is causing this. For 2 of my sites using GP Premium such URLs started getting indexed recently.

Currently, for wearholic.com there are 4-5 of them in Google's index now.

Also, these are all recent articles (indexed with utm_campaign parameters) that were published after I installed this plugin on the site - https://wordpress.org/plugins/shared-counts

Can it be because of the plugin?

You're running Monster insights on your site.
Go to Insights > Settings > Engagement -- expand the Enhanced Link Attribution option - is the Enable Tag Links in RSS option checked ? If so DISABLE it

Hi David,

Yes, it was enabled and when I disabled it the parameters from URL went away from the feed.

I hope this fixes this issue and there won't be any drawback of disabling this option.

Thanks a lot for letting me know about this!

You're welcome
