Hi GP Team!
The global headers on my site appear to be broken. I haven’t made any changes to the settings in the global header element and everything was working fine up until a couple of hours ago. I have troubleshooted the issue to the best of my ability, but nothing I do changes the state of the headers.
Edit: this appears to have happened after the latest update?
Please help!
Many thanks.
Haydn

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Can you first disable all plugins except GP Premium?
And what exactly is the issue here?
January 21, 2021 at 12:22 pm #1628368spicerdigital
Hi Leo
All plugins are disabled apart from GP Premium and Generate Blocks. Cache has been purged.
If you take a look at one of the links in my previous message, you’ll be able see that the hero image is not full width, the page title does not appear centred on the header image and is displayed below the header, also there is no parallax happening.
When I try and edit the Global Header elements settings, nothing changes the appearance in any way.
I have another site with exactly the same Global Header settings that is displaying correctly. I haven’t updated GP Premium on that site (here https://ysoh.co.uk)
Thanks
Haydn

StaffCustomer SupportI don’t believe the page hero is the issue here.
The working page has a full width GB container with a background image:

I don’t understand how all the pages that I linked in my first post all have the same issue with the header when I didn’t make any changes to any settings in either the Global Header element or the pages themselves.
This page, for example – https://spicer.digital/pricing/ had no featured image and was displaying a light blue background, with the page title centred. I haven’t done any work on this page since I created it, yet it is not displaying properly, either.
Totally at a loss to understand what has happened here when I haven’t changed anything 🤷🏻♂️

StaffCustomer SupportI’m not sure unfortunately.
GP is not capable modify all of these things for you – the last update has been out for a while already we have not received any other reports on this.
What we can do here is to help you to get to how you want the layout to be.
Are you trying to achieve the exact same header as here? https://ysoh.co.uk/
Will you be using GenerateBlocks?

Hi Leo
I don’t understand what you mean about GP not being able to modify?
I already had the header exactly the same as the ysoh.co.uk site. In fact, I used the settings from spicer.digital site to create the same headings on ysoh.co.uk. Everything was absolutely fine with the headers until this afternoon after I updated GenerateBlocks.
Nothing that I change in the Global Header element settings has any effect on any of the headers.
I can’t tell you enough that I have not made any changes to any of the settings in the element or changed anything on the pages. I had the headers looking and working perfectly for the last 2 months.

What I’m trying to say is that the global headers are not displaying anywhere even though they should be.
This is beyond frustrating.

OK, so I’ve created a blog page and I’ve set up a new separate header to display on the blog page and it is not displaying the header.
I’ve added a blog page footer and it is displaying perfectly.

If you don’t believe me, at least take a look for yourself?

StaffCustomer SupportI think there is some misunderstanding here.
From what I can see, the two header elements are exactly the same – looks like they both without content and simply merging the header with the first content.
Is that correct?
The issue before is that the working page is using a full width GB:
https://www.screencast.com/t/XhhWqQRNAnd the other page isn’t using GB and is only using the default featured image:

StaffCustomer SupportAnother thing I’ll point is that the source of your site is loading very strange:
https://www.screencast.com/t/AynUHjD0PKAre you using any child theme? If so can you activate the parent theme and deactivate all plugins except GP Premium and GenerateBlocks so we can have a closer look at things?
Please start a staging site if you want to keep the live site running.

I think what you’re failing to grasp here is that the global headers on the spicer.digital site are not displaying at all.

StaffCustomer SupportWhen you say global header, are you referring to a header element?
If so, there might be a conflict in display rules somewhere.
Can you set the status of all header elements to Draft and only keeping the one you are referring to published?

These are the screenshots of the header element.
