Global Elements Not Showing Up

I am not seeing the "elements" page on my wordpress admin dashboard. I am trying to set up a global header & footer, and the global elements configuration panel does not show up on my dashboard. How do I fix this? Re-installing generatepress did not fix it, nor did deactivating my other plugins.
nevermind lol, I am not smart. All I had to do was select "Activate elements" on the generatepress settings page. lol
