Kevin
I’m trying out a new site template from the Site Library.
I’ve imported the “Target” template. But when I try editing its default homepage to make it my own, each container has the error: “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”
If I Disable the GenerateBlocks editor, the page sort-of becomes editable, but now each container of course gives this error: “Your site doesn’t include support for the “generateblocks/container” block. You can leave this block intact, convert its content to a Custom HTML block, or remove it entirely.”
So I think the error is somehow related to how the “Target” template was created using an earlier version of GenerateBlocks.
Any idea how I might fix this and continue exploring the use of the “Target” template from the Site Library?

StaffCustomer SupportHi Kevin,
So I think the error is somehow related to how the “Target” template was created using an earlier version of GenerateBlocks.
I can confirm that this is a bug.
We are actually in the process of updating every single template in the site library to use the new GB system and Target is already completed.
However, it’s still in a staging site environment so the importable file is not ready yet.
Can you try creating a new home page and copy/paste the content here?
https://pastebin.com/TGB7xA6LThen you just need to set that page to be full width and that should be it:

Thanks Leo! So happy I asked, because this has saved me much time trying to figure it out.
Your sample code is working for this page.
I’m having trouble seeing/replacing the default image its using. In the editor, the image is a black box. I’m probably having “figure problems” to see where I can select the image and replace it with one of my own.
Also, is there a timeline estimate for when the templates will be moved from the staging environment?

Does this help?

We need to release the next version of GPP before we can push the staging site live. It’s currently in Alpha 2:
https://generatepress.com/gp-premium-2-3-0/I’d say that if the testing version all goes well then maybe the week of March 13.

Thanks Leo. Got it figured out now.

One more issue has come up now.
I’ve got my own image loaded now, and it looks fine in the editor. But when I preview it, the top of the image spills up and overlaps my page header. I’ve tried changing various settings for the image, but I can’t seem to keep it from getting bigger in the live page.
Any suggestions what setting I’m missing?
Update: I think I found the setting in the Container/Spacing/Margin/Top for that first container on this page. It had no value. I set it to 100 and it’s looking reasonable now.

StaffCustomer SupportHey Kevin,
Any chance you can open a new topic for the separate question?
It’s much easier to track the issue and progress if we can use the topic title to remind ourselves.
Thanks 🙂
