Generate Press default 404 page missing
7 replies · Started by Jodie on December 20, 2022
Hi guys
It's such a strange thing but on one of my sites the default 404 page doesn't show up but on the others it does.
What am I missing on the site not showing the default 404 page please?
I've attached a screenshot for the site showing the default 404 page.
Cheers Jodie
Hi Jodie,
Do you have custom PHP codes on this site? Can you try disabling them temporarily if so?
Let us know how it goes.
Hi Fernando
I don't feel confident at all to do as you recommend.
I've sent you a screenshot of the custom Php that you guys have helped me with over the years.
Does anything stand out to you?
As always I really do appreciate your help.
Cheers Jodie
I see. Are you using a Child theme?
Can you provide admin login credentials so we can take a closer look?
Please use the Private Information field for this: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-premium-support-forum/#private-information
Yes I am using the Generate Press child theme.
Of course I will do that for you now.
Thanks so much Fernando.
Thanks.
Not sure what exactly is causing this. It may be your server, plugin, or something else.
As a first course of debugging, can you try #1 here?: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/
It would be good to do this on a staging site. Otherwise, when testing on the live site, it's ideal to take a backup of your site.

OK Fernando.
I'll follow the steps outlined in the link you sent and test on a staging site.
I'll test on a staging site as you recommend.
Doing just step #1 from the link would be fine.
