function hooks

I just bought GeneratePress premium and I'm throwing to do my first web. It is the first time, so I have little idea of how. I'll have to learn slowly.
I do not understand the function of Add-on "hooks". How it works and how I can apply it to my web.

Hi Josep,
Hooks allow you to "hook/place" content/code into various areas of the website.
They can be useful for adding Google Analytics tracking code site-wide, or maybe advertisements below/above each post etc..
They can be very useful, but some will never have a use for them, while some will use them heavily.
