function causes header to disappear.

i added in the code referenced that worked, however when i do this it REMOVES the header element i have set to display on categories (so menu and Header image disappear now on those pages?

posts_where has the ability to mess with the Elements query and break Display Rules.
Instead, the solution that David pointed to in that topic looks much better: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/136486/exclude-sub-category-posts-from-category-display/136490#136490
