Full width page header disappearing in Safari, not appearing in Chrome

Hi there,
I have a full width page header background image on each page. Everything displays fine in Safari. However, when I reload the page instead of clicking a normal link to a page (so CMD-R on mac), the page reloads and the image disappears.
I checked the site in Chrome and the header images do not appear at all.
I must be doing something wrong - can you help?
I can PM you details if it helps as the site is on a staging server.

My image URLs were still pointing to localhost (which I turned off yesterday so I could check everything was working correctly - doh).
Too many hours at the computer ;-)
