Full width containers on a not full-width page?

I would like to have some full-width containers (horizontal ribbons) on a page that is not full width.
How could I do that?
If I set the page full with, all other containers stretch to full-width as well, if contained, then the ribbon won't go full with either. How could I have it mixed?
Hi there,
the best method is to set the Content Container to Full Width, then split the page up using the GenerateBlocks Container Block. Each Container Block has an inner container - so you can have Containers with: Full Width Backgrounds & Full Width Content, Full Width Backgrounds & Contained Content or just Contained Content.

I would like to change the background color of the block on hover, not the link text color.
