Full width blocks horizontal scroll on Windows

I realize that there has been more than a few topics on this already over the years already but I felt a new one was appropriate to summarize my findings.
This bugs appear when all of this conditions are met:
1. Client OS is Windows
2. Browser is Chrome (possibly others but I did not check)
3. The page has enough height to add a vertical scrollbar
4. Page has a full width block
5. Theme is GeneratePress
6. Page has no sidebars
7. Page is using Contained layout
I see this as a bug since full width blocks on pages without sidebars work fine on WPs default theme. Is this something that GP can/will/should fix?
I would rather not use the overflow-x: hidden; workaround because I have pages with tables that should allow for horizontal scrolling.
I have added two fresh WP installations with the two themes to private information.

The Alignfull and Alignwide aren't using the best way to make things full width in our opinion as Tom summarized here:

I would highly recommend using the alternative and better solution Tom offered in the second half of the reply.
Thank you for clearing this out. I also did my own research and found that Twenty Twenty uses the "Define the content width to everything inside the content except for align full items." method that Tom suggested. But Twenty Twenty also does not have a contained layout and is more similar to GPs Full Width layout.
GenerateBlocks is an interesting take on page builders. We are in a processes to phase out Elementor. Will consider this option as well.
