Footer font wont change in Typography settings

Hey,
somehow none of my changes in the customize > Typography section seem to apply. No live preview and also after saving, the site wont adept the changes made.
Perhaps I have some custom CCS code that might prevent this?
I would like to set up something similar to the footer here on GP. I already have the newsletter graphic ready which I control via an Elements page, perhaps it would be better to just replicate my entire footer in that page as well since it will be more options compared to the options in the customize wordpress setting?

If you go to the element which contains the newsletter, and set the element type to site footer.
You can see some pre-built site footer template that you can click and import to your element.
By setting the element type to site footer, it will replace the default site footer, you will have full control of the style.

Hey @Ying - quick follow up. I have applied the changes, but the original footer still shows up on top of my new footer from the Elements page?

go to Customizer > Layout > Footer and set the Footer Widgets to 0 ( zero )
