Footer element schema issue

Hi there,

I have used the global footer and created a footer using GB Pro. Excuse me for my query (if it is noob level) but do footers have some sort of schema markup? If yes, does our new footer (built with GB) have it too?

Hi there,

the Site Footer ie, where the copyright info is displayed does have Schema.org schema markup. But the Footer Widget area does not.

If you replace the Site Footer with a block element it won't have schema.

Will it harm SEO in any way? If a blog choses to not have footer will it be at a point of SEO disadvantage?

Not really - its a simple semantic markup that is added as standard to WP templates. It contains no itemProperty information so it doesn't add any real SEO value.
