Font size automatically increasing

Hey,

I hope you're doing well. So, I'm using Google fonts on my website (Crimson text), and a really strange thing is happening. When I land on my website from a Google search, the font size automatically increases — both H1 and body text. However, when I visit the next page or sometimes refresh the page, the font size gets back to normal. I'm mostly facing this issue on Android and Windows devices — tried this with multiple devices.

I tried multiple things but nothing has worked so far. When I use normal system fonts, I don't face this issue. Can you guys help me with this?

Thanks!

Hi Akash,

When I was checking your site using windows computer, it doesn't seem to have the font changing issue.

If you disable all plugins except GP premium, does this issue still occur?

Let me know!

Hey Gina,

Thanks for responding. Maybe you were seeing the bigger text in the first place and not how it should look like. Please look at the screenshots — it might not seem like a big deal, but the text looks really big on Android. Also, it's annoying when the text changes when you visit another page.

I deactivated all plugins except GP premium — it didn't help. In addition, my Google Analytics has also started acting up from yesterday — it's not tracking all the visitors. I can see the GA script in the source code of all the pages, but it's only tracking a handful of them. Say only 5% of all pages. I even restored a backup from 3 days ago when Google Analytics was working fine, but still nothing.

I'm not really sure what's happening here. At first, I thought it was because I hadn't renewed my license and the GP premium plugin needed an update. But I renewed my license — and it turns out it wasn't the plugin after all.

Can you please take a look once again?

Thanks!

Hi Akash,

I can’t seem to replicate the issue from my end as well.

Do you have a setting in your optimization plugin to combine CSS? Can you try disabling this setting temporarily and see how it goes?

Can you try disabling critical CSS from ezoic as well and see how it goes? Perhaps you could also reach out to them regarding this issue as well as it seems that CSS in your website including the one which determines the font-size of the Paragraph Block you specified goes through ezoic.

Hope to hear from you soon. :)

Hey Fernando,

I disabled the Autoptimized plugin altogether and purged the cache — it still isn't working. I have also tried disabling all other plugins except for GP premium but nothing. I guess I'll reach out to Ezoic as well. I'm attaching two screenshots from my Android device that I took just now — you'll be able to see the difference.

Also, is it possible for you to check why Analytics stopped working for me? As I said, I even restored a backup from 3 days ago when everything was working fine, but the problem still persists. Both with Analytics as well as the font size.

Thanks!

I see.

With regards to Google Analytics, there is no code in our products that would affect this or hinder it from working.

Do you have script optimization in Ezoic as well? Maybe this is causing issues with Google Analytics.

With regards to the font-size, it is rendered from here: https://share.getcloudapp.com/NQuN5OZv

Try disabling the setting where css is rendered through ezcritcss and see how it goes.

Hope this clarifies. :)

Hey guys,

Thank you so much for your help. It was Ezoic that was messing up the font text and Analytics code. I removed all of Ezoic's optimizations — and everything is good as new. I appreciate all your help — it means a lot.

Thanks!

Sounds great! Some CSS and JS optimization like combination tend to cause more issues than help.

You’re welcome Akash! Glad to be of assistance! Feel free to reach out anytime you’ll need assistance with anything else. :)
