Fighting 400 Bad Request on Site Import

Hello,

I was trying to do a site import on EasyWP (tried three different sites) and kept running into the 400 errors. After some searching through this forum I found the "turn off caching" advice. However, I can find no way to do that on EasyWP.

So I decided to spin up a new server using WPMU. Still 400 errors (tried "Dev" and "Service"). Then I turned off all caching I could find and even turned off the WAF. I'm still not able to import from the site library.

Any suggestions?

Hi there,

The best solution to this right now is the use our 2.0.0-alpha version: https://generatepress.com/introducing-the-gp-theme-builder/

It's quite stable and will be entering beta this week.

The Site Library has been re-written in it to work better with server-caching like this.

Let us know :)

Thanks for the response, Tom. I've been refreshing that page every couple of days to see when it comes out of alpha...and super-stoked to hear it works with server-caching better!

FWIW, I did find a workaround for WPMU (but not for EasyWP). In WPMU, if I spin up a staging version of the site then the site import works. Then I just have to promote it to production.

That makes sense, they probably have server caching disabled on staging.

2.0.0 should definitely fix this :)
