Featured image suddenly cropped and resized

Hi, there! I'm using your generate page header plugin in order to have su_carousel pull post/page images categorized as "featured" for visual navigation within the header of our GP themed home page. Up till now, it's worked great!

Recently updated the theme (and a number of plugins, including the header) and now the featured image on the newest page, as it appears in that navigation menu, is cropped and enlarged. You can see it at http://www.acrosstown.org. It will do this with any image I set as featured image on that page, including those that look fine when set as featured image on other pages.

Any insight you could provide on what's causing this would be greatly appreciated!!

For what it's worth, the 1200x514 image is consistently resized to 582x520, regardless of file format (jpg/gif/png). I have never had any thumbnails set to that size, and it resets to that size regardless of my media thumbnail settings (which are all currently set to 0). I am baffled :/

what's showing: http://www.acrosstown.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/WP-Slider-HK-1216-582x520.gif
what should be there: http://www.acrosstown.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/WP-Slider-HK-1216.gif

Just for shiggles, I installed "display all image sizes" plugin to see if that would provide any insight. No image size of 582x520 was detected.

What slider plugin are you using for that slider? It looks like that image size is coming from directly inside the slider, so you might want to check there first.

Thanks, Tom. I'm using Ultimate Shortcodes for the carousel. Unfortunately, they seem less-than-responsive to support requests, so I may have to seek another solution :/

Thanks, Tom. I already have meta-slider, but (to my knowledge) free version doesn't pull featured images from categories.

What do you mean by pulling featured images from categories? Do you want the slider to pull the featured image from each post?

Yes, exactly! I've since installed WP Posts Carousel-- which is great-- but I can't find a way to include both posts and pages into the same carousel (I use "category tag pages" to add a category to pages). I may have to create a custom post type or something (or find yet another carousel).

By the way, thanks for all your help-- you're going above and beyond in helping with an issue that has nothing to do with your theme and I really appreciate it!

I took a look around but wasn't able to find much for free - if you ask the devs of the plugin you found they may have an idea on how to incorporate what you're looking for :)

I was surprised they didn't add an "any" post type, since it's supported by WP... I wrote them a note a couple days ago, but no replies yet.

Thanks again for your help, Tom! I love this theme, and will likely use it for our work site, too, at some point.

No problem. Glad you're enjoying the theme :)
