featured image option missing?

Hi there,
I recently ran into a weird problem. On my blog posts I can't seem to add a featured image. That option has just "dissappared". As I haven't posted in over 9 months I can't tell you when it happened.
I'm using the GUTENBERG editor to write up posts fyi.
Hi Slim K,
To confirm, are you referring to this?: https://share.getcloudapp.com/QwuL2Ykz
This shouldn’t be a theme related issue. There is no code in our products that should make the Featured image field disappear. Can you try #1 here: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/
If you have custom PHP snippets, can you also try temporarily disabling them as well.
It would be good to take a backup before performing this.
Kindly let us know how it goes. :)
I don't actually have any snippes. But i noticed now it comes up LATE. Like literally 30 seconds after the EDIT page loads lol. I can't even figure out how to troubleshoot the issue :/
I see. The featured image section however is a core WordPress feature. It is part of WordPress core, not handled by GP.
It may be late load due to some factors like a slow server or a bloated website.
This article might help: https://themeisle.com/blog/wordpress-admin-slow/
Hope this clarifies. :)
Hi there,
I am getting exactly the same issue. Featured image option has disappeared, and occasionally it will suddenly appear again.
However, I just checked on a different theme site I have (ie not Generatepress), and it's gone there too, so maybe there's a bug with the latest Wordpress version..?
Cheers,
Sam
Hi there,
seen several different reports for this, the latest feedback we had from one user was this:
https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/featured-image-option-missing/page/2/#post-2206445
Seems SEO plugins like to eat up a lot of resources and disabling them fixed the issue for that user.
Yes confirming.
I don't use SEO PRESS but i do use RankMath.
WHEN RankMath is disabled and it works instantly.
Well there seems to be a pattern - might be worth reaching out to RankMath to see what they can do.
Thanks for reporting back.
