Featured image not appearing (not possible to select)

can you temporarily disable the Yoast SEO plugin, and then clear the browser caches.
Does the Featured Image Meta box appear then ?

Yes disabled Yoast and don't have caching plugin. Still the same issue.

On the right hand corner of the Post edit page, there's an icon with 3 dots. Click that, then go to > Preferences > Panels. Check if Featured image is enabled.

The only time i have seen this is when plugins, particularly SEO ones for some reason, burn up a lot of resources adding their large amounts of meta boxes.

If you temporarily disable all plugins do you see the featured image metabox return ?

That doesn't seem to help either.

What would be the next step for solving this? Clean install of Wordpress? If so, how would you go about that, specifically retaining the current content, settings etc.?

Can you switch to the twenty-twenty series theme to see is the featured image tab comes back?

Yes still did not change anything. Standard theme and all plugins were temporarily deactivated, and featured image box still did not appear in editor (see screenshot in private info)

If the issue still occurs with a twenty-twenty theme, it means the issue is not related to GP.

It might be something wrong with your WP install.

I would recommend reaching out to WP support.

I followed the guide in the link to no avail unfortunately.

I:
- Took backup
- Downloaded WP-content of existing site via FTP
- Downloaded the Wordpress import function in tools
- Downloaded Generatepress settings
- Deleted the entire WP installation
- Installed a clean WP installation
- Deleted WP-content from clean WP installation via FTP
- Uploaded WP-content from old site to new WP installation
- Imported WP GP settings
- Activated all plugins and GP theme
- Imported WP import

The site appears as its old format, but I still can't select featured image. I am completely lost here. Any other suggestions?

Could we get a temporary admin login to the site so we can take a look at what is going on ?
