Hi,
Is it possible to get a featured image sized smaller and opened in a so called lightbox with the caption on or below it?
Like to know.

On the single post page.
If you use the Page Header add-on you can link the image to the full size (or any image): https://docs.generatepress.com/article/page-header-image/
However, you would need to add some sort of jQuery script to handle the lightbox effect.
Simply installing this plugin might handle it for you as long as the image is linked to another image: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-featherlight/
