Feature image GP optimization

Hi Tom, Leo
I always get an image before uploading it and compress it quite rigorously. I crop it to a moderate ( 650 x 480 example ) then compress it.
Sometimes, it is not optimumlly sized as noted in page speed analysis. What is the perfect ( ?) size for main blog post “ featured image” so I have some idea as to how it will satisfy the GP theme while not causing any re size and/ or “ compress more” issues on gtmetrix or page speed?
I read that certain themes have optimum size for images as compared to when wp uploads and resizes them.
Thanks
Howard
Hi there,
There isn't really a perfect size - it has a lot more to do with the container size you are using.
Generally speaking you just want the picture to be big enough to fill the container without scaling up or down.
Let me know if this helps.
