Hi there
I’m using the paid GeneratePress theme and for some odd reason the favicon works only if you’re logged in.
I can’t seem to upload images here but in short, I have already changed the favicon in Customize -> Site Identity.
The favicon is updated to any user logged in but is the default / odd shape to anyone who isn’t.
Do let me know how I can upload images.
Thanks

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
That’s strange.
Have you tried disabling ALL plugins except GP premium and check if the favicon applies?
Also, if your site’s server has any form of caching, can you clear/purge it? Let us know.

Hi Elvin
Yes I have disabled all plugins except GP premium and the issue still appears.
I have cleared my cache but noticed something weird. The issue only happens on Brave and Chrome. When I used Safari, the favicon was fine. Could you check this on your side?
Would you be able to help me to log in and look into this?
Thank you

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Favicons can be a real pain – the best way is to generate a try .ico file:
https://realfavicongenerator.net/
And the upload it to the Root directory of your site.

David,
Thanks for the link but we’d really like to upload the .png image. I know that it’s possible and that GeneratePress allows this but I don’t understand the issue with the favicon.
We’re using GeneratePress Premium (paid) and this feature is shown in the documentation.
Is GeneratePress doing something to fix this bug?
Thanks

StaffCustomer SupportIts not actually a bug – its just an oddity with Favicons – Chrome seems to be awfully picky about the type of image being used.
For the majority of users the customizer settings work … for others they do not , and although there are many other methods to try the one i outline above is the most proven method. However i took a look at your site and i see this:
https://www.screencast.com/t/eSV1BgxVr7K
All the links that GP output are there… but they are being output in the
<body>
which isn’t normal as GP inserts them into the<head>
… so some other function is breaking the HTML to cause that….If you can fix that so they are in the head then you may find that Chrome will find them.
