Favicon is adding Image to RSS Feed - Spotify Clash

Hi there,
My site has a podcast through Blubrry plugin.
I just checked everything was working ok on https://castfeedvalidator.com/
and this error message came up:
ERROR: More than likely you have a theme or plugin that is adding an image to your RSS feed. Most likely this is a favicon image that is small, 16x16 or 32x32. This will cause problems if you want to put your podcast on Spotify.
I do have a favicon installed - it's an .svg of my logo.
Is there something I'm doing wrong that it's clashing or is it a theme clash?
many thanks,
Melanile.
Hi there,
Can you try removing the favicon and see if that solves the issue?
Let me know :)
Hi Leo,
Yes that resolves the issue with spotify. However I then have the wordpress logo as my favicon which doesn't look great.
Is there a way I can have my own favicon AND have it work with Spotify?
Melanie.
Hi there,
Seems like something WordPress related: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/podcast-feed-error-in-validation-favicon/
How are you adding the favicon?
Thanks Tom.
ok, it seems I can either have my own favicon and not have it work on spotify, or have the wordpress one and have my podcast on spotify.
I'll take it off as I have a good amount of listeners on spotify.
What if you add a favicon.ico file to the root (same folder where your wp-content, wp-admin and wp-includes folders live) of your website?
oooh that's an idea. It did occur to me that the Wordpress favicon was working fine, so it must be stored somewhere.
Great idea, I'll try it and get back to you, thanks.
No problem :)
Tom,
That worked, thank you. sorted.
Glad I could help :)
