I have a Live Site with GPP which already have content and design include css.

And I have a test site, where I work on a new design.

If the design is ready, I want to put the design on the live site.

GP has the option to export and import, so I guess I have to use this to transfer the design.

But what about the custom css? Do I have to delete the old custom css on the live site and copy the new css manually?

Or is this part of the export and import process?

    Hi there,

the import / export option in GP only transfers the Theme Customizer Settings, no content and no Additional CSS. So you can import the settings and manually cut and paste the CSS into the other site.

Hi David, thanks, now I know.

So the import/export works differently as importing a site from the site library, because there css is importing.

The Site Library is like you importing an entire site using a plugin like Duplicator or All in One Migration. It installs theme settings ( what the GP Export/Import does), plugins, content ( posts, pages, media, elements ), menus and widgets and Additional CSS inside the customizer.

So the GP Import / Export function is only for the theme customizer settings nothing more.

    Hi there,

There is a slight nuisance with the export/import settings feature.
The path to graphics (logo) is json-stored in fully-qualified form.
This gives problems when importing later on to another domain.

When exporting from DEV.myperfectsite.com and subsequently importing into http://WWW.myperfectsite.com, the graphics cannot be found.

I had to edit the exported json before I imported it.
In my example above, “”DEV” had to become “WWW”.
A little inconvenient because I could not see my mobile logo…. at first.

I do not think the fully qualified filename is neccessary, relative from site-root seems enough.
    Example: /wp-content/uploads/2019/11/myperfectlogo.jpg

    Any thoughts?
    Next release?

    Greetings,
    Harm Wester

    Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely an issue we need to address. Our next release is coming next week, so it will need to wait until GPP 1.10, unfortunately.

    I’ll get it done ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi,

I just moved content from my local to my production instance and noticed that the domain is still saved inside the export. I couldn’t find a way to replace it afterwards, replacing all occurrences inside the DB didn’t work.

I had to manually edit the export file and import it again.

It would be nice if the export wouldn’t contain the domain, but the relative path, or even better, the image ID instead of an URL.

In my case we’re talking about

    – footer_widget_image
    – footer_image
    – header_image
    – nav_image
    – mobile_header_logo

Please open a new topic for the question as this one is very old.

    Thanks!
