Hi Support,
A minor issue, but hope you can tell me how to fix it.
The excerpt text for one blog isn’t capitalizing subheadings as in the actual blog: https://mygoforthegreen.com/blog/, first entry (Rock Your Sales …).
Questions 1 and 2 in the excerpt are mixed upper and lower caps text although each word is capitalized in the blog itself.
I tried switching to a manual excerpt, but “Read more” doesn’t appear when I do that.
Is this something I can fix with the theme or is it a WordPress issue not covered by the theme?
Realize this isn’t critical, but my Virgo self would like the capitalization to look right … if possible.
Thanks for any suggestions. No rush on this one!

February 1, 2020 at 10:24 am #1151511LeoStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
WordPress strips all HTML in the excerpts by default.
Using the manual excerpt with the snippet below should be the way to go:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/activating-read-custom-excerpt/#read-more-textFebruary 1, 2020 at 1:39 pm #1151632LindaThanks, Leo.
Could you please clarify for me just where I put the text snippet.
Does it go in Additional CSS in Customizer? Do I need any Class in the GP CSS box?
Appreciate your input … don’t want to mess up!

February 1, 2020 at 2:05 pm #1151651LeoStaffCustomer SupportThat’s PHP so one of these methods:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/adding-php/We always include the method to add the code at the bottom of the article under related articles:

February 4, 2020 at 2:38 pm #1154672LindaHi again, Leo,
I see where Related Articles go. Thanks for the screencast.
If what you gave me is PHP, that’s a bigger issue for me. I’m beginning to think it’s time to create a child theme if I’m going to be adding PHP. There is also some PHP I need to add in WooCommerce.
Do you agree on the need for a child theme? If so, I’ll hold off on this until I can get that done.
Thanks for your advice,
Linda
PS Sorry to be slow getting back to you! No email for a while.
February 4, 2020 at 3:49 pm #1154709LeoStaffCustomer SupportAre you planning on adding lots of PHP?
If so child theme would not be a bad idea.
If it’s just a few then Code Snippets should be fine.
February 6, 2020 at 9:34 am #1156872LindaGreat news, Leo. π
Hadn’t realized Code Snippets did PHP additions. I have the plugin installed since I used it a while ago, on a WooCommerce Memberships rep’s recommendation.
Using it will be a lot easier than setting up a child theme at this point
Thank you so much for the information and shortcut.

February 6, 2020 at 11:25 am #1156986LindaLeo, just tried it (on staging site first) and it worked perfectly on both stage and live! And it was totally easy to do. Thanks so much for the excellent suggestion and for reminding me I had a plugin that could handle the bits of PHP I want to edit. π
