Excerpt in recent post at sidebar

I use GP premium and focusing on site speed.

[My question]
How can I put an excerpt of the most recent post in a sidebar widget?
I don't want use plugin it can be delaying site speed.
If the subject title is long, it appears in two lines in the most recent post in a sidebar.

I've used plug-in. so it was solved but if you have any idea please let me know.
I really want to use this function with plug-in.

the plugin route is the best way to go - any code we could provide would add the same amount of code as the plugin would.

I've just worried about web speed but when I check the speed, it do not matter even if I use plug-in.
