Excerpt Conflict

I have 'category posts widget' plugin installed and there is an option to enter excerpt length. I tried it a few times with gp premium installed but the length doesn't change, I switched the theme and it worked fine. I noticed the plugin uses the same excerpt length that generatepress blog uses (55 words).
Is there any way I could fix this? I want the blog to use the default 55 words length and 10 words for side bar widget?
I just found another sidebar widget plugin (posts in sidebar) that works without any conflicts so I guess it's solved.
