Hi, I’m just getting started with the design of my site and would like emulate Matthew Woodward.co.uk
I believe that his navigation are category menus, but has a page like design below the header menu and was wondering how I could achieve this myself.
Thanks and absolutely love GP & GB

Not sure if I fully understand.
The example site you’ve linked isn’t using WordPress as far as I can tell.
Can you show a screenshot of the actual design you are referring to there?

This site definitely uses wordpress, as he has stated in one of his posts, and I’ve been following him for a few years.
I’ll add the link to the site and photo

You can use Query Loop block we recently introduced in GenerateBlocks to create something like that:

June 24, 2022 at 1:09 pm #2263566JamieHi Leo,
Can I ask what was confusing in relation to the link I provided?
I’ve checked using that I was to emulate using Chrome Dev and selecting sources and it appears the site is using Thrive Builder/Architect for the design layout.
My main intention is to use categories as the header menu navigation, but design below the fold as if I was creating a page.
Hope the above is clear…apologies if not.
BTW: Appreciate your help

There is a space in the link so I thought it’s https://www.woodward.co.uk/

Sorry but I’m still unclear about what you are referring to here. The SEO, Blogging and Work Online menu items are just normal menu items. And all of the pages that the menu links to are just static pages.
Perhaps this article on WordPress menu builder would help?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-wordpress-menu-builder/June 24, 2022 at 3:25 pm #2263667JamieHi Leo,
I just noticed the space, didn’t realise that the space was there, so an error on my part….my apologies.
With regards to the menu, I have read several of his posts regarding silo structure and hierarchy and from my understanding and using chrome dev inspect element, I feel that the menu navigation is created from the category menu and not a page menu. This then affects how you can then design the layout.
You can’t create that design by using categories as your menu, yet you can do with using pages.
June 24, 2022 at 3:51 pm #2263689LeoStaffCustomer SupportI inspected the menu and it’s not using the WordPress core menu builder.
I clicked a few pages and don’t see any category pages at all – it would have a specific tag in the

.June 24, 2022 at 4:03 pm #2263695JamieHe could be using Thrive architect/builder for menu structure. That said, he could well be using the wordpress navigation menu, but be using a landing page page to create the design of the page below the menu.
He is using the rankmath plugin which gives you the option to remove the category within the URL.
I have just right clicked his website to see the source code and noticed that he might be using a plugin called or titled as page list.
https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/page-list/
maybe this might play a part in the design?
But still does not quite solve my initial query.
June 24, 2022 at 4:35 pm #2263702LeoStaffCustomer SupportThings like site structure is all handled by WP core so it wouldn’t be theme related.
Maybe you can send him an message if you have specific questions about his site?
I’m sorry but I’m still not quite sure what you are initial query is.
If you are trying to display posts on a static page then the query loop block I linked above is the way to go.
I’m not sure what the page-list plugin does.
