Might be getting ahead of myself here. Been poking around with GP and the upcoming release of WP….and I was wondering if the template function of elements will there be a way to apply those to the new query loop block? Those are ugly as heck a bit iffy overall. I’m just about to deploy a new site and hoping beyond all hope that I won’t have to be saddled with that hideous mess of a block without having much control – or having to resort to a plugin.

I’ve played around with some basic manual customisation, but it’s obviously not efficient and having a way to do this as a template would be suuuuuuuuuuch a win.

    Hi there,

not sure if you have read this:

    https://wptavern.com/query-loop-the-ins-and-outs-of-one-of-wordpress-5-8s-most-powerful-features

But it covers off the Post Template, which WP5.8 will include patterns for displaying different layouts
We’ll be looking at whether its a good move to develop GPP Block Element templates to sit within that or to extent GPP / WP Show Posts / GB Pro to perform its own magic 🙂

Still early days with 5.8 and there are a lot if minor things that need fixing and stabilizing before we delve too deep into that.

Yep. I’ve got it on a production site along with GP at the moment.
The patterns are kinda iffy though. Hopefully that’s just the RC phase and things improve with the stable release. It definitely does not like being put in a GP grid or container so far hehe 🙂 and because WP’s own columns are meh, I’m hesitant to use them.

I’ll roll back for now though and await the ‘official’ release.

Yeah the pre-installed patterns are pretty poor. I think it may take a little time for these changes to get embedded and improvements to be seen.

Grateful for your feedback on this 🙂
