Designing the frontpage I would like to make use of a shortcode block element. Is it possible to assign a background image to such an element?
The idea is to have the header and the navigation area in place, then a new slider area and then the content area and the footer area.

Hi there,
install the GenerateBlocks plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/generateblocks/
Then in your Block Element add a Container Block, it the block settings you can give it a Background color. Then just put whatver content including shortcodes inside the Container.
