Elementor Pro & Generatepress Pro - Color & Font Defaults

I've been reading the support forums of both Elementor and Generatepress but I still cannot figure this out:
My goal is to:
- use the 'Site Settings' in Elementor to control all colors and fonts of my website
I have followed the instructions by Elementor, but Generatepress still interferes
In the Elementor preview page everything shows up as expected, but as soon as I look at the live page, some elements (f.ex. the button elements) show up with the colors setup in the customizer by Generatepress. I have cleared all cache settings etc, but it still happens.
I know you guys say generatepress and elementor would work great together and in general I agree. But I would greatly appreciate a STEP BY STEP guide on how to make this work.

Hi there,
I took a look at the home page and everything is coming from Elementor - I can hardly tell it's using GP.
Can you let me know which element you think GP is interfering with?
