Hi there,
the Blog Module provides the options to remove the Post Navigation in Customizer > Layout > Blog:

In the same panel you can also choose to hide Featured images for Archives ( or posts o pages ):

There is no featured image added to the post navigation by default.
Did you import a site from the library?
If so check Appearance > Element for a Custom Post Navigation element.
If you don’t want to use a custom one, you can just remove the element.
