Does GP use the native WP comment template or it's own custom template?

I'm asking as i'm getting a custom comment plugin made for me and dev wants to use a custom comment template. I said i'd rather he use native WP comment functions so it can adapt to any theme, like GP. Am I right?

That's right - always good to stick with core GP templates/functions.
