Does GP automatically create post excerpts?

Mine is set to “show excerpt” and it says 65 words for the number, however, I’m seeing 108 words, plus html code in the excerpt box when editing the post.. Not sure what’s going on?

Some were,, just really confusing, I’m not sure what happened, but some of my posts have the excerpt field filled in, i.e. the first part of the post is missing from the post area, and it’s in the excerpt. Does GP do anything like that?

GP doesn’t touch your content, it just displays it.

It goes like this:

1. If your blog content is set to excerpt, it will show the excerpt at your specified length.
2. If a manual excerpt is set, it will displays it instead of the above.
3. If the more tag is set, it will display it instead of the excerpt.

So this means, I don’t need to use a readmore tag, the theme will automatically just take the first x number of words from the post and make that the excerpt. Is that correct?

That’s correct, if the more tag isn’t being used and a manual excerpt isn’t specified, WordPress will do it for you.
