Does empty element affect website performance?

I just want to control menu, header, footer etc with empty element. Will it affect website performance / speed? Do you have any tips for this?
Hi there,
It's not good to have empty elements in general, as it increases the load time of the HTML.
But if there aren't many of them, it should be ok.
