Do I really need the amp plugin?

I added the wordpress amp plugin on my site at thecatholictravelguide.com, but really don't like the way it shows up. Wondering if I even need the plugin, since I am using Generate Press (premium) and it has always loaded quickly without it.

my personal view, unless you were operating a site that is competing for the "Top Stories" position in Google search then no I don't think AMP is necessary.
And in 2021 Google allowed any page, not just AMPs to appear in the Top Stories. So one of AMPs main benefits no longer applies.
If you ultimately only interested in AMP from a performance perspective, and you happy with your sties performance without AMP - then i would say NO to AMP :)
