Do I need to back up theme files?

Hey

I have a question about GeneratePress. At the moment I am backing up my theme files using Updraft Plus but want to reduce the server strain so looking for things I don't really need to back up.

I am thinking I actually don't need to backup theme files because:
1) I am not using a Child theme.
2) I haven't manually edited any files, I use Elements etc.

Would I be right in thinking this? I don't want to stop backing this up too hastily in case I am wrong.

Is there anything else I should consider that I might be doing that would mean I need to back up theme files?

Hi there,

theres no requirement for you to back up the Theme files themselves, although i am not sure that would save a lot of date as the files are very small.

Things like Elements are a post type and are saved as part of your content.

Great thanks David.

Yeah I did think its not massive but when you are talking a fair few sites and also updraft plus makes you back up all themes (so we also have the default theme on sites as well), I figured it adds up.

Cheers!

Glad to be of help!
