Do child themes need to be updated?

I recently installed the GP child theme from the documentation center and I was wondering if those ever needed to be updated or would receive updates via WordPress. I know that GeneratePress and GeneratePress premium receive updates.
Hi there,
No you do not as it’s linked to the parent theme. Just make sure the parent theme is always updated.
