[Resolved] Display Posts and a Page

Trying to find the best way to display Posts a Page. I am looking to move to a static home page, but would like the ability to include some (one or more) on the static home page.

There is a plug-in by IvyCat (Posts in Page), but it has not been updated in several months and I am a little hesitant to use a plugin that has not been updated in a while.

Can anyone suggest proven reliable way to do this? Or am I just being over-cautious on the plug-in should be just fine?

Thoughts?
